Newport Rhode Island – photoblog
Some of my favourite photos of a two day stay in Newport in the fall.
Some of my favourite photos of a two day stay in Newport in the fall.
Just as it suggests a walk along the cliff path where the Atlantic Ocean meets Rhode Island. Cliff Walk can be accessed via Memorial Boulevard in Newport and immediately you are enjoying seascape views along Easton Beach to Easton Point…..but the real reason I walked the cliff path was to see the Mansions….some of […]
With limited time and it being a first visit to Cape Cod my research led me to choose Chatham as our base as it’s conveniently located on the ‘elbow’ of the Cape and roughly half way along this fab spit of land just off the New England coast, south of Boston. I say fab because the […]
This post includes The route Where we stayed Interesting stop offs and attractions Internet research suggested that the more southerly states of New England might be best for my planned end of October visit to catch the fall colours. Of course it’s not an exact science and peak colours in foliage country depends on the […]
Looking for some foliage colour on the Cape we happened on Crystal Lake by the side of the Highway 28 near Orleans. Whilst not technically brilliant these are my favourite foliage photos of the New England road trip.

The footpath took us across the fields to Folly Lane with great views down to The Medina River. We found ourselves at Folly Inn a little […]
We had planned to visit just one of the great Mansions of Newport (Breakers) but our hotel Gilded let us know that the day we were in Newport which was October 24th coincided with the Restoration Foundation Golden Birthday and entrance to Doris Dukes former home Rough Point was free. So we walked the famous Cliff Walk, popped into Breakers […]
Driving from Rockport, MA to Great Barrington along Highway 2 we had great views of the leaves changing colour. Needing a stop off to stretch our legs we pulled into Mohawk Reserve. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the toilets and the grill areas and enjoyed scuffing through the leaves by the Deerfield River. By the time we […]
Ok so autumn in America is the fall but whatever you call it, visiting Newport in New England autumn is a good time to visit. Newport is home to the America’s Cup and a harbour full of fancy yachts. It was the vacation destination for the gilded age rich and famous and became a vacation […]
